In the #Bloganuary challenge today, WordPress.com wants to know the PROS and CONS of procrastination.
OKAY. Procrastination. Not a good thing. For me.
Even though it begins with PRO, there aren’t many “pros” about it. Sure you feel great avoiding something that has to be done but you don’t want to do it. “Not now,” you say. “I’ll get to it later.”
But “later” soon comes, and then you have to face the task you dreaded. Only now, the deadline is closer, the pressure is on, the acid of stress pours into your stomach. ‘I DON’T WANT TO DO THIS!” you yell to no one. “I WISH THIS WAS DONE!” again to no one.”GRrrrrr!”
It’s like that with bookkeeping for me (household, not business). I hate it, I dread it, but it has to be done monthly. UGH! And THEN! Worst of all is TAX TIME PREP. OHHhhhhhhhh. Horrible task.
It’s the numbers, I think. Although I don’t think I’m formally dyslexic, I do tend to transpose numbers on a regular basis. Then there are my trifocal (TRI-focal!) glasses. It makes eye strain and neck strain and brain strain worse. Look at the tiny numbers on your desk, look up, through two lines on my glasses and try to type the same one on the correct line (or compare and check it off). And then, of course, it never comes out right.
And now………..TAX TIME is coming. And I’m procrastinating. I will, I know, do that until there is but a few days left. Then I will crash around the house bemoaning my fate and staying up to all the wee hours (bad also on the eyes and brain) and struggle to get it done.
A boot in the behind, that’s what I need.
Okay, now for the PROS……………………………………………………………………………………
