I recently served as a member of my Faith Bible Church missions team to Germany.
Five of us went to Berlin to assist a sister church there with their Family Camp in the mountains. There were eight sessions in the morning & evening, and to ensure the adults could attend all of them without distraction, we gathered the kids into two age groups (plus a nursery for babies) to teach, make crafts, and play games during those times.
The theme for the classes was the Gospel of Jesus, which leads to Salvation.
Here are the 8 short lessons on the Gospel that we taught the kids at Family Camp in Germany.
- 1. God is the creator of everything, including all life. (yours and mine).
- 2. God is Holy. That means He is separate and above everything else in the universe. He is sinless, pure, all-knowing, and all-powerful.
- 3. God demands that ALL his created people also be holy, as He is. This is really impossible, for since Adam and Eve, ALL people are sinners. Sin is “missing the mark” of God’s holiness. There is no way, on our own, that we can be holy as God. Yet He demands it.
- 4. And God says, if we are NOT holy, perfect, totally without sin, our end is death and separation from Him. Not only physical death but eternal banishment from Him … in torment forever.
- 5. But there is a solution! Jesus. He is the perfect, holy Son of God, who came to the earth to show what a holy life is and, more importantly, to make it possible for people to be holy and pure in God’s sight as well.
- 6. When Jesus was hung on the cross and died, that great Old Testament prophet, Isaiah, said that God placed on Jesus … OUR sins. Then God killed Him (the just punishment for sin).
- Jesus had NO SIN in Himself at all. It was all OURS!! When Jesus died, OUR SIN was punished by His death. He took the “gas chamber,” the “lethal injection,” and the “hangman’s noose” for us. God said those who sin will die, but Jesus took OUR DEATH on his perfect self …. and gave us His righteousness. (A very wonderful but so unfair exchange.)
- 7. And then God raised Jesus from the dead. He came out of the grave alive! This proved that God was satisfied with Jesus’ substitutionary death on our behalf. Salvation was complete. A way was opened for us sinners to enter the presence of the Holy God and not to be instantly vaporized.
- 8. So, what is left? Why is not all mankind saved from eternal death? There is one more step for us, although God enables that too!
- We have to BELIEVE that Jesus took all our sin on the cross and died for it in our place. God said it is true. We must believe it. And God will even give us the FAITH to believe if we come to Him with sincere hearts.
- He loves us. He sacrificed His Son in a horrible, brutal manner to show us how much He loves us. He made Jesus pay the penalty for sin so we don’t have to. He’s done it all. We need only to BELIEVE it and come to Him.
- John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes IN Him, shall not perish (die eternally), but have eternal life.”
- Sadly, those who reject this great salvation have no hope at all.
- “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved!”
You can be saved because Jesus made the way. There are scriptures that back up all of the above. If you’d like to know them, let me know in the comments. If you would like prayer, I can pray for you too.
