BOOK REVIEW – Inheritance & Intrigue in The Cotswolds, a Prequel to The Treasured Journey Mystery Series

by Victoria Tait

Although Inheritance & Intrigue in The Cotswolds is a prequel and available only via the author (for free), it is an excellent segue from the familiar Dotty Sayers Antique Mysteries we’ve learned to love.  (Dottie and her policewoman friend Keya will continue in the new Cotswolds Antique Mystery series.)

In Inheritance & Intrigue, we see Dottie and her friends take the background while Georgiana Carey slowly comes into her own.  She’s been a solid figure at Akeman’s Antiques from the beginning, but after her cheating (in more ways than one) husband was murdered, she longs for a change.  She’d love a new job in a new setting without reminders of the despicable Marcus. (Do you blame her?)  So, while Dottie takes over leadership at Akeman’s, Georgiana seems to flounder.

That is until a mysterious but valuable sapphire ring comes to her attention. Found in her ex-husband’s safe with his notes, she sets out to find the valid owner so she can return it.  Who knew this would lead to the uber-wealthy Anstruther-Wells family at Marchwood Hall … and murder?

Using her antiquing expertise and working closely with the new police inspector, Georgiana pokes and prods and comes up with a “gem” of a solution.  Hooray, Georgiana!  And when “the” opportunity of a lifetime comes, our new mystery sleuth is ready and willing.

Antiques & Adversities in The Azores, Book 1 (digital) is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.
