BOOK REVIEW – Millie’s Cruise Ship Mysteries: Skagway Sleuths (Cruise Director Millie Mysteries Book 4)

BY Hope Callaghan (Author)

SKAGWAY SLEUTHS is the second of Hope Callaghan‘s Cruise Ship Director, Millie’s adventures in Alaska.  I really enjoy them, having recently cruised the inside passage in Alaska myself. These mysteries depict shipboard life very true to form.  It was like being there again as I read this book. Without the mystery, of course!! And yes, we also took that scary train ride up a  steep mountain!!

Millie and her friends are busy at work as usual, with a few “difficult or unusual” passengers to make it interesting.  Some are still plaguing our girl for photos of her with themselves or even with the Captain after a blog made Millie famous.  One woman got a bit too close on this trip! Oh, my!

Millie and her friends decide to join a murder-mystery tour when they arrive in Skagway. It takes place on a train that chugs up a steep mountain and across frail trestles.  Millie is nervous but a good sport. Once on the train, they begin questioning the mystery actors to see if they can identify the culprit.  THEN, the unthinkable happens. No, the train does not leave the tracks and tumble down the slope, but an actual crime occurs.  Whoa!

Millie and her friends are ON IT, even as the ship leaves port, because one of their suspects is onboard. With lots of entertainment, investigation, and new food to sample, the gals keep very busy. A new crew member causes all kinds of havoc, too!

But, you know Millie always “gets her man,” and this is no exception. Before this cruise ends… she has him, well, them, in the bag. (not literally)

Skagway Sleuths is an entertaining, enjoyable mystery with likable characters you can get to know as you go along in each book.  And I’ve pre-ordered the next Alaska cruise mystery in the series!
