Since I love cruising, I enjoy Hope Callaghan‘s Millie’s Cruise Ship mysteries. I’ve followed Millie through the Caribbean, to Great Britain, and now into Alaska. I’ve seen why she joined the crew in her first book, then met and married the Siren of the Seas captain, and now has become the Cruise Director. It’s fun remembering my cruises (especially to Alaska) as I read about her work and crime-solving aboard the ship.
After she and Captain Nic Armati took a nice long vacation while the ship was being repositioned from the Caribbean to Vancouver, Canada, in preparation for a season up and down Alaska’s Inland Passage, they are eager to see the ship, their friends, and Scout, their little dog. But first, Millie must solve a murder mystery. (No surprise)
They met Chelsea at the airport, waiting for a flight to Alaska. She was harried and scared, and when our curious Millie questioned her, she revealed that she feared she was being followed. Millie and the captain took her under their wings till they landed. They hoped to connect with her at her new employment, a prominent gift shop in Ketchikan. But that was the last time they saw her alive.
Millie can’t leave the mystery alone, and since the ship has to be in port for a few days, she and her shipboard friends take on the task of finding Chelsea’s killer. Before long, the killer is threatening her and Nic!
But never fear. Although her methods are way off the normal chart, Millie and company always seem to get their man. This time, it’s in a shocking but nevertheless workable way. Oh, my! Along with the mystery, Millie has another challenge. She has suddenly become rock-star popular with the guests on the ship. Something about a contest from a travel writer who had earlier interviewed her. But our gal is up to any challenge… with the help of her friends, of course.
A totally enjoyable, fun, clean, and informative cozy mystery by a prolific author.
