This is the 17th annual April Poem-A-Day Challenge on Writer’s Digest. I’m posting on two days’ prompts today because the website was not working yesterday! Seriously!!
Day 2 — The FIRST is a two-for-Tuesday prompt, which means I get two prompts. I can write a poem for one prompt, a poem for each prompt, or one poem that works with both prompts. The day two prompt is a happy poem and/or a sad poem. I’ll write one of each in Haiku.
A new church is built.
It was a long time coming.
Now, people rejoice!
The rosebud is gone.
Cut from a lily-white breast.
Warm tears down the drain.
Day 3 — The SECOND is to pick a musical act or artist and either make that the title of your poem or incorporate it into the title of your poem; then, write your poem. The day three prompt is a musical act or artist as the title. I’ll expand on a song’s theme.
"IN CHRIST ALONE" (Keith & Kristyn Getty)
A sweet hymn of assurance,
Hope for eternity, not in MY strength.
HE alone gives me endurance.
Height, Breadth, Depth, and Length
That's His love in which I stand.
He's my righteousness, my all,
Trust in Him is never quaking sand,
He's my fortress and rock. I'll never fall.
