#Bloganuary is a month of blog prompts/questons that WordPress uses to get us bloggers off to a good start in the new year.
Day 22 – Making my pet understand one thing?
First off, I no longer have a pet. For nearly 60 years we had dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, chickens and a couple turkeys. But we are now pet-less.
Unless you consider my trio of crows, as pets. There is a father, mother, and youngster in the family. They are pretty friendly since I feed them every day (bread crusts, sunflower seeds, bits of raw meat trimmings, Cheerios, broken chips & cookies, left over rice, etc.)
The big father crow is comfortable enough with me when I am out gardening (pulling weeds, dead-heading flowers, etc) that he will fly onto the grass at about 8 feet away, rest on his belly, and spread his great shiny-black wings out on the grass to the maximum reach (easily 20″) and bask in the sun. He really is quite beautiful. He will lay there why I pluck and cut, occassionaly winking or smiling at him.
Is he (or they) my pet? Hmmm.
If so, what would I like him especially to understand?
“WHERE IS THE BLING?”
Yes, that’s harsh I know. But I’ve been told that crows and ravens will reward their “humans” for feeding them. They absolutely recognize my face, and consider me at least one source of food. They will follow me around the neighborhood when I walk, and come when I call them. It’s been five years now.
WHERE IS THE BLING?”
I’ve read and been told they will bring (and deposit on your patio, porch, deck, lawn chair or table) things like coins, hairpins, keys, bracelets, bottle caps (or pull tabs), rings, and other stuff that looks good to them. Five years, and I’ve got nothing.
WHERE IS THE BLING?
C’mon, my lovely black-satin beauties. Cough up. Pay up. Gift me something!
