BLOGANUARY – Write about your first name: its meaning, significance, etymology, etc. Day 21

#Bloganuary is a month of blog prompts/questons that WordPress uses to get us bloggers off to a good start in the new year.

Day 21 – My first name? What about it?

Serendipity.

No, that’s not my name! HAHA But THIS question on THIS date is. You see it was on the twenty-first of another month (my birth day) that I was named…. Jacqueline.

That’s the old, unfancy way to spell it. My father liked it because it sounded French, although I’m sure he never knew the French way to pronounce it. The name has two backgrounds. They say it is derived from the French Jacques (James) or from Hebrew Jacob (supplanter, cheater). The short way that I spell it, is Jackie, again not fancy and dropping the “Q”.

A famous Jackie woman is Jackie Kennedy Onassis, former first lady of the United States. But there are famous men as well, like old time actors, Jackie Gleason and Jackie Cooper. (My Hubby and I have fun with our names sometimes when meeting new people. He goes by his middle name, Lynn. People are sometimes confused who is Lynn and who is Jackie!)

It’s a long name to write out, especially with my middle and current last name. I shorten my non-official signature to just the “J” with the last name.

More fun, is my maiden last name which was Love. Truely! There are a whole bunch of my relatives with huge farms in Pennsylvania named Love. It is even the name of a street there.

Humorously, I was once asked how to spell it. WHAT?? Love?  L-o-v-e. How can you get that wrong??
