An AUDIObook Review by Jackie Houchin
If you like bears, or are afraid of bears, and you enjoy a suspenseful adventure with a little bit of romance in a wilderness setting, you will enjoy Alaska Twilight by Colleen Coble.
Haley is a young woman with a past that has scarred her deeply and a devastating rejection by those she loved that she can’t get over. She goes to mental health doctors, and they all tell her to return and face her past. It is the only way for healing. So, she and her travel-writer grandma (and her intrepid dachshound, Oscar) head north to Alaska as part of a film crew that hopes to document bear encounters.
Yes, she meets her past and confronts her fears and they – as well as a couple rogue bears – nearly destroy her.
But there is a gruff and tender widower and his sweet daughter, as well as a newly discovered sister to help her. They all point her to the God she has forsaken. Only He can give her the healing and forgiveness she needs. But can she ever trust Him again?
Oh, and by the way, there is murder, kidnapping, blackmail and betrayal as well, in this well-written, tender story. A thoroughly enjoyable read that grabs your interest and doesn’t let go.
