An AUDIOBOOK Review

I loved all the stories in this “retold for kids” version of Sherlock Holmes. They are very like the original ones that I read years ago, so the retelling of them is done well. I suppose some objectional words or objects, and maybe Holmes’ various vices have been omitted, but hey, that’s a win in my opinion.  The stories are true to Doyle and clever and suspenseful as ever.

The first story tells how Dr. Watson first met Sherlock Holmes when they took rooms together at 221 Baker Street. And the last two stories are after Holmes’ famous “death” at the falls when fighting Moriarty, and his reappearance 3 years later.  Great fun.

I especially liked the telling of The Hound of the Baskervilles, and The Speckled Band.  SCARY!!!  And I don’t think I ever read The Six Napoleons story.

The narrator also did a great job voicing Watson and Holmes, and the others as well.

I recommend this Audiobook collection for 3rd-grade kids and older and any adult who likes Sherlock Homes stories. They are easily stopped, and can be read one at a time.
