BOOK REVIEW – City of the Dead: City Spies, Book 4

by James Ponti (Author), Lisa Flanagan (Narrator), Simon & Schuster Audio (Publisher)

James Ponti delivers another great City Spies mystery, set in Cairo this time. The team gets a 6th member, but is he good… or evil? Only time (and the next book) will tell. (The reader is pulled either way as the story progresses.)

Meanwhile, the youngest team member, Kat (math/logic/patterns whiz), takes on her first head-of-mission job involving the British Museum and a cybercriminal. There are some glitches, and the pre-mission test fails. Kat feels she’s failed the team.  But once you are head-of-mission, and you’ve said, “This mission is a GO!” you must finish the job.

The other City Spies gather to support and cheer her on, and soon, her natural (and weird) strengths kick in. Led to the city of the dead in Cairo, Egypt, the team attempts to discover who is sending the encrypted messages and who is passing the stolen goods to them. With a few exotic tools (think James Bond) and a mind that thinks in patterns that none of the other City Spies even understand, Kat pinpoints the villain!

Back home, the team wants to accept Spy #6, but things he’s said and done and possess make that very difficult.  I can’t wait to read the next in the series, MISSION MANHATTAN.

I soooo recommend this series!

Lisa Flanagan is a top narrator for the audiobook.
